Theology 2: Humans, Jesus and the Holy Spirit

$25 for course

Description

This is part two of the three-part series of courses on the core truths of biblical, Christian faith. You will learn about what it means to be created in God’s image, and you will also gain a deeper understanding of the person and work of Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Course Outline

Session 1

THE ORIGIN OF MANKIND

The first humans originated from the direct creative activity of God.

Session 2

IMAGE OF GOD AND THE ORIGIN OF SIN

The expression of the image of God in people can be described as two interacting essences, material and immaterial, distinguishable in life but only divisible in death. Dr. Breshears also considers how people have proposed various explanations for the origin of sin.

Session 3

SIN

The effects of sin are pervasive.

Session 4

CHRISTOLOGY

The essentials of incarnational Christology are that Jesus is: 1. One eternal person, the Logos, 2. The same eternal deity as the Father, 3. The same temporal humanity as we are, and 4. The full unity of the person of Christ.

Session 5

DEITY AND HUMANITY OF CHRIST

Jesus performs divine actions and refers to himself as God.

Session 6

THE LIFE OF JESUS

Jesus lived as a human from birth to death and at the same time, he was fully God.

Session 7

HOLY SPIRIT, SPIRIT BAPTISM

Some people think Spirit Baptism takes place at conversion, and others think it's a subsequent event.

Session 8

FILLING OF THE SPIRIT, GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT

The filling of the Spirit gives us the insight to know what God wants us to do and empowers us to do it.

Session 9

PROPHECY AND GIFT OF TONGUES

Prophecy can be described as the Spirit empowered proclamation of the Word of God that presses deep into the hearts of people, enabling them to see their lives and circumstances in light of God’s promises, priorities and purposes.
