Are courses really just $5 an hour?

Yes, the base price for a course enrollment is $5 per course hour. And the good news is that discounts for certificates make CLD instruction an even greater value.

How long do I have to complete a course?

For a single course, you have 4 months from the date of enrollment to complete the course. For one of CLD’s basic certificates, you have 1 year from the date of enrollment to complete the certificate.

Do I have to be involved with a church to register for a course or certificate?

No. Church affiliation doesn’t influence whether or not one can enroll. Of course, we’d always encourage involvement in a local church for anyone who has personally embraced the Gospel.

Do I have to be a pastor or otherwise officially involved in some ministry to register for a course/certificate?

While many people in various official ministry roles utilize CLD resources, you do not have to be in one of those roles to participate.

Can CLD courses be used in group study?

Yes. Many groups utilize courses for leadership training, discipleship programs and other small group contexts, sometimes even creating their own custom training certificates. In those settings, enrollment is priced according to the number of group participants with discounts available based on group size. Can I earn college credit or graduate credit through CLD?

No. While the courses and certificates often reflect college or graduate-level content, they are structured and priced to bring that content to the widest audience possible. However, churches, denominations, mission agencies and para-church groups utilize CLD courses in their training programs, reflecting broad recognition of CLD course quality and value.

Do I need a high school diploma or undergraduate degree to enroll in CLD course?

No. CLD courses are open to anyone, regardless of academic achievement.

If I register for course, how will I receive it?

You’ll receive access through a CLD internet portal. Check the technical requirements below to see if you can effectively access the courses. Internet access is the only way that CLD courses are available.

Technical requirements for effective course viewing: CLD courses are delivered online through your preferred web browser. We recommend either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge for media viewing. You will need a  web-capable device, a high-speed internet connection, and the ability to stream and view course media in MP4 format.

When can I enroll in CLD classes?

You may enroll in CLD classes at any time.

How do I pay for a course?

Individual enrollees, whether in a single course or a certificate, may pay by credit card or through PayPal. Group payment is arranged per group contract and may be completed by credit card, PayPal or check. See information in Group Training for further group-related inquiry, contact Bert Downs at email hidden; JavaScript is required

Do the courses or certificates require homework?

No, the courses do not have homework. However, the course sessions each have a “quiz” designed to help the student process the content but not for a grade. As such, quizzes may be engaged multiple times until the student has attained a satisfactory outcome. Students that are taking courses to earn a certificate must engage all session quizzes at an 80% correct level. Keep in mind that the purpose of the quiz is to help process content. Quizzes may be repeated until the required process level is attained.

How can you offer the CLD courses so reasonably?

Through the support of foundations, churches and generous individuals who believe that intelligent, informed Christianity, in the broadest possible sense to the broadest possible audience, is essential. In many cases, the support comes from those whose lives have been impacted through CLD participation. That support has enabled a growing global outreach.
